Biography

The Violent Youth is a new wave/post punk/synthpop “one man” act that was founded in Minsk, Belarus in 2014, now based in Augsburg, Germany. As part of the Minsk Post-Punk family, its influences lie in synth-pop, post-punk and rock of the 80s – say Depeche Mode or New Order. Yet, The Violent Youth songs still have a very distinctive sound to them that make them unique. Singer and multi-instumentalist Arthur Tsymbal, creates most of his songs at home from scratch – keys to guitar, drum machine to vocals.

The Violent Youth’s third LP “Tam, Gde Nas Net” (“the grass is always greener on the other side”) from 2020 also somewhat counts as a first – the first album in Russian that showcased a new, darker sound. Tsymbal deals with everyday topics such as love, distance between people, loss - but at the same time manages to capture the silver lining and shows hope for a change for the better.

With more than 400,000 streams of the album and a wave of new fans, Tam Gde Nas Net can be considered The Violent Youth’s breakthrough album. The fourth and latest Album “Ostavaites Na Linii” (“Hold the Line”) was released on October 29th, 2021. This further developed sound is multifaceted, it shows a danceable and at the same time vulnerable side.
