Pleasure Pill Announces Debut Album Hang A Star and Upcoming U.S. Tour
San Diego, CA – March 28, 2025 — Pleasure Pill are officially stepping into the spotlight. The San Diego five-piece—Jonah Paz (vocals), Ethan Paz (rhythm guitar), Luke Blake (lead guitar), Ivan Delgado (bass), and Dom Friedly (drums)—have announced their debut album, Hang A Star, arriving June 27 via à La Carte Records. Over the past few years, they’ve cultivated a reputation as fervent revivalists of a certain British rock and roll lineage: the rattling, amphetamine-laced energy of The Kinks, the sharp hooks of The Undertones, the slick urbanity of The Style Council, and the hypnotic pulse of Primal Scream. Now, they’re taking that vision full-scale.
The album rollout begins today with the first of three singles, "Line Up The Stars." A crisp, harmony-drenched burner, the track is Pleasure Pill at their most immediate, a swirling mix of power-pop exuberance and baggy swagger. The follow-up, "My Way To You," lands April 25, while "Don’t Fly Away" arrives May 30. -
To celebrate Hang A Star, the band is heading out on an extensive U.S. tour beginning April 25 in Los Angeles, joining Sid Simons, zzzahara, and Benches for a string of dates across the country, including stops in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York City.
Pleasure Pill’s ethos is simple: make timeless rock songs that hit like a shot of dopamine. "We love all the classic rock stuff, but we’re not trying to go out there and be some copycat," the band told Spin in a recent interview. "We’re not trying to go backward, even though we draw from a lot of those inspirations. We want to be moving forward into new territory a little bit—or at least trying to."
That balance of reverence and reinvention has already earned them praise. "I’d Rather Be" found them threading Britpop melodies through a garage rock filter, while "Wonder How" dabbled in kaleidoscopic, Beatles-indebted psychedelia. San Diego Magazine recently called them "the prescription for Gen Z ennui," positioning them as a band reviving rock music for a new generation.
If Hang A Star delivers on their promise, Pleasure Pill might just be the next dose we’ve been waiting for. -
