PUBLIC CIRCUIT BREAKS NEW GROUND WITH MODERN CHURCH, OUT SEPTEMBER 12TH VIA À LA CARTE RECORDS
Brooklyn, NY - July 1st, 2025 – Public Circuit aren’t interested in nostalgia. On their sophomore album, Modern Church (out September 12th via à La Carte Records), the NYC-based trio take a scalpel to post-punk conventions, splicing the martial rhythms of electronic body music with the lacquered, high-drama sheen of '80s sophistipop. The result is a record that feels like a neon-lit séance—urgent, unflinching, and impossible to ignore.
On Modern Church, Public Circuit refines the serrated synths and convulsive energy that defined their 2022 debut, Lamb, while expanding their sonic lexicon. Where that record pulsed with raw, kinetic electricity, Modern Church delves deeper, threading its skeletal, punk-inflected compositions with moments of icy grandeur. If Lamb was a frantic sermon, this is the sound of the congregation in rapture. -
Drawing from the austere futurism of Fad Gadget and Units, as well as the brooding mechanics of Front 242 and Ministry, Public Circuit conjure a sound that exists somewhere between industrial discipline and synth-pop transcendence. From the clenched intensity of Samson to the spectral drift of No Faith, the album reads like a manifesto for a band that refuses to be easily categorized.
Renowned for their searing live performances, Public Circuit craft music that doesn’t just demand attention—it grips you by the collar and doesn’t let go. Modern Church isn’t just an evolution; it’s a transformation, a plunge into the deep end of electronic music’s most physical and cerebral impulses.
